Proudly protecting the over 5600 citizens of the Unesco World Heritage Town of Lunenburg and Municipal District #1 and #2.
The 52 firefighters operate out of a state of the art station, which was opened in 1996 with the cooperation of the Town of Lunenburg, District Fire Commission, Province of Nova Scotia, and the Government of Canada.
The Department responds to over 150 calls annually, which include Fires, Motor Vehicle Collisions, Technical Rescue including Dive, Water and Ice rescue, Medical First Response, and Miscellaneous calls which range from fuel leaks to investigations. They operate with OneTriple combination pumper, One 75' Quint Aerial, 1 Midi Pumper, 2 Tankers, 1 Heavy Rescue, 1 Utility/Light Rescue unit, 1 Zodiac Rescue Boat, and 1 CAFS equipped trailer.
